Main cast of A Silent Voice

Shouko Nishimyia (Saori Hayami)

Shouko Nishimiya is one of the two main characters. Shouko is deaf and goes to a new elementry school in sixth grade. She gets bullied by her classmates including two important characters, Shoya and Naoka. In College Shouko meets an old classmate again, Shouya. Shouko and Shoya become friends, as Shoya tries to make up for the trouble he had caused Shouko in elementry school.

Shoya Ishida (Miyu Irino)

Shoya is the second main character. Shoya is Shouko's main bully in elementry school. Shoya would break and lose Shouko's hearing aids and yell and hurt her. Shoya as he grew up developed depression and couldnt even look anyone in the eye. Shoya planned to kill himself but he later saw Shouko the same day and after that he tried to make things right with Shouko.

Naoka Ueno (Yuki Kaneko)

Naoka is another major bully in Shouko's life. although Shouko and Naoka do meet again, Naoka does not try to fix their friendship like Shoya does. Naoka has a crush on Shoya and is jelous of their friendship. Naoka continues to torment Shouko over the things they had in elementary school.

Yuzuru Nishimiya (Aoi Yuuki)

Yuzuru is Shouka's younger sister. Yuzuru is a great photographer and pins pictures up of dead animals for Shouko saying "If she sees what dead looks like maybe she wont want to die". Yuzuru focuses on her older sister more than her education and initially does not like Shoya when they meet. Although, that changes later in the movie.
